During the holiday season, Fort Lauderdale has some deep-rooted traditions that locals look forward to year after year. From Christmas on Las Olas to the Winterfest Boat Parade, basking in the sun while celebrating the holidays is always a highlight of “winter” in South Florida!
Christmas on Las Olas is the kickoff to all events during the holiday season. We shut down the mile strip, put in an “ice” skating ring, have snowmen made of sand, and celebrate with our glorious tree lighting. It’s no Rockefeller Center, but it is beautiful to see the Christmas tree lit surrounded by Palm Trees.
Any time is a good time to take a drive to the ocean. Put your chair in the sand and enjoy the sun, with our temperature dropping barely below 70 degrees, you can still throw on a bathing suit and catch some sun rays. After you are done relaxing at the beach enjoy dinner at the latest spot in town! Coming spring 2019, Tuscan Prime is sure to be a local favorite hotspot. Located in the heart of downtown,
enjoy authentic Italian cuisine and hand-crafted cocktails after a beautiful day at the beach.
The Winterfest Boat Parade starts in downtown Fort Lauderdale and stretches for 12miles the way to Lake Santa Barbara in Pompano Beach making it “The Greatest Show on H2O”. Since it is the 7th largest spectator event in the U.S., it’s no wonder people travel from all over for this annual event! With over a million people experiencing the show, it is a must see.
The holiday traditions in Fort Lauderdale are truly special. From decorating palm trees to our big events, the whole city comes together to celebrate! With plenty of sunshine, winter decorations on the water and the best dining around, Southern Florida is a great place to celebrate. Tuscan Prime is coming soon to Las Olas Boulevard and we are looking forward to celebrating many holiday seasons in the greatest city in South Florida!
